The II International Conference “Readings in memory of B. N. Melnichenko and S. E. Trifonov”

The II International Conference “Readings in memory of B. N. Melnichenko and S. E. Trifonov” will be held at Saint Petersburg State University from April, 19 to April, 21, 2023. The Conference will be dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand, a deep contribution to the history of which was made by Professor Boris Nikolaevich Melnichenko and Senior Lecturer Sergey Evgenievich Trifonov.

The Conference is organized by the Faculty of Asian and African studies, the Department of Philology of Southeast Asia with the participation of leading Thai Universities – Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University.

The conference is supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand in Bangkok and the Honorary General Consulate of the Kingdom of Thailand in St. Petersburg.

The event will be held in a mixed face-to-face and virtual format at three main venues: at St. Petersburg State University, Chulalongkorn University, and Thammasat University.

A wide range of issues related to the studies of Thailand and Russia will be discussed during the conference. Conference panels:

Undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, specialists in the studies of Thailand and Russia, university teachers and researchers, from Thailand and Russia are invited to participate.

Undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, specialists in Thai studies, university teachers and researchers, from Thailand and Russia are invited to participate. Working languages of the Conference: Russian, English and Thai. Time limit for presentation: 20 minutes (presenting and discussion). Following the conference, the Collection of articles will be published. To participate in the conference, you should send an e-mail application by February 28, 2023 to thaiconf.spbu@mail.ru. The application must include the following data:

  • full name,
  • affiliation,
  • title of the report,
  • selected panel,
  • language of participation (Russian/English/Thai),
  • information about the format of participation (in-person/remote),
  • for in-person participation please also specify the venue (St. Petersburg State University/Chulalongkorn/Thammasat) and submit an abstract of the report (up to 1000 characters).
